“Giving Generously”
We believe in generous giving. It is not just about giving money, but about a way to live. You’ve likely heard the comments or maybe even thought something similar yourself about churches, “they are always asking for money” or “it seems like all they care about is money”. That is likely true of a few churches that have their priorities totally messed up! Let’s pray that churches like that are few in number!
Our philosophy and theology of generous giving is fairly simple. The first and most central tenant is that God is a generous giver. A key verse in the Bible says, “God so loved the world that He gave His One and only Son." We believe Jesus also set the ultimate example of giving by giving His very life for the sake of others and in obedience to God and for His glory. Jesus has called His followers to follow Him, to be like Him and to be generous with our lives. We know that finances is just one part of our lives, but an important part.
In seeking to be like Jesus and in obedience to God, we give because it blesses God, but we also give mainly in response to all He has given us! He does not need our resources, but He knows, and we experience, that as we give generously and cheerful good things happen. It furthers the work of His kingdom, touches, honors and blesses others—especially the poor by meeting their needs, builds deeper and stronger relationships between people, confirms and proclaims the power of the gospel message and it effectiveness to a skeptical world. Lastly, giving blesses the giver in countless ways. It is a beautiful upward spiral. God blesses us so that we can be a blessing to others.
God bless you as you give cheerfully, whatever you’ve decided in your heart to give. Thanks for your generosity!
